I can hear some of you laughing and some of you saying "Amen!!!" because you have been there. It's no fun at first, but you learn to laugh about it in the long run. A good reason to keep it clean when you are starting off. Once you have made a connection, you really need to find out as much about the person as you can. I would eventually go as far as chatting on voice, or even on the phone, but the phone part always scares me. What if you give your number to a wrong person??? You are basically toast!
I like the fact that we don't have to pick up the phone to talk to anyone anymore. I like using the voice on the IM windows or even going to a chat room where voice is available. That way you don't give out your personal information to a stranger. It's also another way to tell if that person is real or serious. If they say they can't use voice, then you might be a little suspicious. I don't think they make computers without built in microphones and speakers anymore. It's too necessary in the technology these days.
Another thing you don't want to be is mean. Start getting mean with someone at one of these social networking sites, or dating sites, and you never know what can happen. Revenge is a nasty thing my friend. That special someone could easily turn on you and use all the sweetness in the world to find out just where you are. There are a million ways to get out of a situation without getting mean.
